Ella Fitzgerald singing career
The legendary soul jazz singer, Ella Fitzgerald, Jane (April 25, 1917 to June 15, 1996) has also been affectionately Ella called Lady "and" First Lady of Song. "
This dynamic jazz singer female soul has a very wide vocal range that covers three octaves and is best known for its quality singing pure tone, phrasing and intonation of notes.
It has been particularly well received by her scatting and improvisation and perhaps the most memorable performance of this song is considered exceptional skills in a concert where she admitted that she had forgotten the lyrics to "Mack the Knife" and improvised his way and scattered through the song the greatest joy of the public and worldwide admiration for its ability to adlibing improvised.
In his career, a half-century as the period leading singer, She had an impressive collection of Grammy Awards and sold more than 13 40 million albums since the surprising fact that his singing career was in the first half of last century. It is not surprising, as such, for the agility of his voice that she could sing sensual sentimental ballads, of swing jazz and soft even able to imitate almost all musical instruments in an orchestra.
At its peak, Ella Fitzgerald performed vocals and performed in slots halls, clubs and concert halls around the world alongside some of the finest musicians and singers of his time as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Dizzy Gillespie and Benny Goodman to name a few!
Lady Ella Fitzgerald was born in Newport news, Virginia April 25, 1917 and her parents divorced shortly after his birth. During his years of growing, she took small jobs the most simple, and even worked as a runner for local stakeholders, collection of paris and let your money to support their brothers.
She had a difficult year to grow. She did not do well in school and was often truant. She even had trouble with police and was arrested and sent to a reformatory. Life at school reform was even more miserable, he has suffered beatings by their carers allegedly humanitarian.
Finally, she was forced out of the house of correction during the terrible Great Depression years when she struggled to gain life, extreme hunger and sometimes challenged homeless youth on the head.
What is striking about this great singer is that never complained and used the memories of those sad moments to help raise emotions interpretations. Perhaps it is because such unfortunate events she was able to inject so much heart, feelings and passion in his voice.
She first break was in 1934 at the Apollo, where he won the opportunity to compete in an event called Amateur Night. She went to the theater this evening planning to dance, but when the Sisters Edwards closed the main show, she changed the idea. "They were all sisters dancingest" to quote her and felt her act in any way compared with the Sisters of the dance.
Then took the stage to boos and derogatory word dam the hearing hecklers, fear and disheveled Ella made the decision to sing in his place. This has been perhaps the best decision I ever done in his life and from that moment his life took a different destination.
Asked the band to play "Hoagy Carmichael, Judy", a song she familiar. She quickly in this magical moment silenced the boos in the audience and when the song finished, the crowd shouted again! The girl with the guts and forced then translated as "Sister Boswell The Object of My Affection", which identified people in a frenzied ovation.
The Fate smiled on her in the band that night was saxophonist and arranger Benny Carter. Benny remained so impressed by the natural talent of the singer who started introducing Ella to people in the world of entertainment that could help launch her singing career. In the process, Benny Carter and Ella became friends for life often work within a team.
Encouraged by the enthusiastic response that night, Ella started to enter and win all the talents show that he could find and took part in. Then it happened. By January 1935 was the opportunity to perform during one week with the Tiny Bradshaw band at the Harlem Opera House.
It was at this concert, she met drummer and bandleader Chick (William Henry) Webb. By Chick was very impressed by the young Ella, who had already committed singer named Charlie Linton for his band performances of the opera. Chick She offered the chance to sing with his band when they played a dance at Yale University and told him that if people like her in the dance, you can stay with his group. You can bet that the public worship at Yale!
Sometimes in the middle of 1936, she recorded her first and So "Love and Kisses" was published under the Decca label, with a success only a more or less. At that time, she performed with the orchestra Chick at the prestigious Savoy Ballroom in Harlem so often referred to as "the worlds most famous Ballroom.
During this period of career Ella singing, the era of big band swing was changing, and the focus was turning more toward bebop. She played with the new musical style, often using her voice to assume the role of another horn in the brass section of the band. His rendition of "Swing It should be" a summer when the young singer to come began to experiment with feces and improvisation was a great success with their fans.
Then one day in 1938, she recorded a version of the playful children's song "A Tisket A tasket" and sold one million copies of the album stayed at number one on the charts for staggering 17 weeks. With this version, Ella Fitzgerald became a singing sensation famous overnight?
When the mentor Ella, Chick Webb died in 1939, Ella took over the group and renamed it as Ella Fitzgerald and his famous group for the next three years.
While on a concert tour with the group of Dizzy Gillespie in 1946, she fell in love with Ray player in the band under Brown. The doves were eventually married and adopted a son named as Ray Jr.
At that time, Ray Brown worked for the producer and producer Norman Granz Jazz in "at the Philharmonic" tour. Norman had the vision she had the talent to be an international star and he convinced Ella to sign with him.
Editor Norman, Ella joined the Philharmonic tour, worked with Louis Armstrong on several albums and has begun to produce his famous series songwriter. From 1956-1964, recorded versions of other great musicians and composers such as Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, Gershwin, Johnny Mercer, Irving Berlin, Rodgers and Hart and with much success and recognition internationally.
She has also started appearing on several television regularly and quickly became a popular guest classical and programs that frequent the salon Bing Crosby, The Dinah Shore Show, The Frank Sinatra Show, The Ed Sullivan Show "and" The Tonight Show, "" The Nat King Cole Show, "" The Andy Williams Show " and "The Dean Martin Show."
The Working Time has finally taken its toll upon their marriage as Ray and she filed for divorce 1952. However, they were good friends for the rest of their lives.
She often suffered from poor health, but bravely continued to work as hard as he could early in his career. She has traveled around the world, sometimes the scene shows two newspapers in cities hundreds of miles and in 1974 she spent two weeks of the scene in New York to Frank Sinatra and Count Basie. About 5 years later the singer was included in Down Beat magazine Hall of Fame and received a Kennedy Center Honor for his ongoing contribution to the art.
In 1987, then President of the United States, Ronald Reagan awarded him the National Medal of Arts. He was one of the most conducive to your life. France does the same for several years later, presenting their Commander of Arts and Letters award, while Yale, Dartmouth and other universities with honorary doctoral degrees awarded.
Given She continued to deteriorate health, he underwent quintuple bypass surgery the heart to the fall of 1986. Your surgeon also replaced a valve in his heart and a diagnosis of diabetes, which has accused his vision problems. The press and the media have led to horrific stories she could never sing again.
Do wrong the doomsayers are! The indomitable She returned to the concert stage and pushed a broad concert program that can make a journalist blush of shame!
In the 1990s, Ella Fitzgerald had recorded over 200 albums and, finally, 1991, she gave her last performance at Carnegie Hall in New York. As the negative effects of diabetes continues to increase, a 76-years she has experienced serious blood disorders of the circulatory system and have been forced to have both legs amputated.
The legendary Ella Fitzgerald finally succumbed to his illness and died June 15, 1996 at the age of 78 at his home in Beverly Hills. Fans around the world mourned the loss of favorite and the only 'First Lady of Song "incomparable jazz singer, Ella Fitzgerald.
