Old-fashioned biscuit recipes grandma used to make
Remember the big, soft cookies and delicious that you liked to eat home Grandma? I of course. I remember the old wood oven in the kitchen of my grandmother and delicious cookies that were still sitting the warmer, "" region. No matter what time of day, they were still in the list of cookies in the kitchen of his grandmother! I grown in the Midwest, where we had some cold winters strong. One of the best things to do was sit in Grandma's kitchen, where the heat the great fireplace become the warmest room in the house. So if you're like me and have wonderful memories of sitting in the kitchen eating homemade cookies Grandma slathered with butter and homemade hand waving can try one of these cookie recipes from the old.
BUTTERMILK BISCUITS
5 cups flour
3 / 4 cup shortening or lard
1 tsp teaspoon baking powder
Soda 1 c. Tea
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons sugar
1 package yeast
1 / 3 cup hot water
2 cups butter
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Sift ingredients dried in a large bowl. Cut the shortening into the flour mixture. Add butter and yeast which was dissolved in hot water. Mix with a spoon until all flour is moistened. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. Remove the dough all the necessary measures. Lower dough on a floured board until 1 / 2 "3 / 4" thick. Cut with cookie cutter or shot. Bake for 12 minutes until golden. Keep unused dough in the fridge for tomorrow.
COOKING POWDER COOKIES
2 cups flour
4 c. teaspoon baking powder
1 / 2 teaspoon salt
1 / 2 teaspoon cream tartar
Sugar 2 teaspoons
1 / 2 cup butter
3 / 4 cup milk
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Sift dry ingredients in large bowl. Using two knives, cut butter until crumbly. Add milk and mix well. dough Roll on lightly floured surface and cut with cookie cutter. Bake at 400 degrees for fifteen or twenty minutes.
